HAPPY NATIONAL WOMAN'S DAY

Once again it’s time to show love to those wonderful estrogen filled bodies of mostly water. Even though I must be honest, I didn’t know about this holiday until I made my way into work today. Nevertheless I was able to score 2 roses and an Mp3 player which was being given out to the ladies @ the office. This I’ll pass along to my girl who I highly doubt knows about this particular holiday but should still be happy about the roses and Mp3 player. This of course is until she reads this posting which she’ll reply that I didn’t give any thought to this holiday that was previously unbeknownst to both of us. Hmmnn….I could go on forever with this but what can I say it’s a celebration ladies, let’s move on. There’s just something about this topic that make me drift back to when my man Mr. Roam would constantly question my love or lack thereof for female emcees. Well its years later but let me just clear the air. I think KRS one said it best, “a good emcee is a good emcee”. So I don’t lower my critique when it comes to the females. Basically y’all better be on some Antionette (do ya research people), Roxanne Shante, Rah Digga, Ladybug Mecca, Lauryn Hill (before the acoustic shit) heavy material.. The only thing light should be MC Lyte. Word. Anyway homies, go home kiss your girls, hug your moms and let your daughters know exactly how special they are. It’s because of them why we’re all here now, and that there’s the truth, ruth. Peace.

NEW HEROES

As the music industry continues to go through its metamorphosis, I think it’s safe to say visions of butterflies are extremely far fetched. You see a butterfly is recognizable, there’s already a blue print for that particular change. Where we’re headed now is uncharted territory. Matter of fact someone should get James T. Kirk on the line and tell we need a captain for this vessel. As Scotty tries his best to hang on to the previous way of doing things it’s evitable that the whole thing’s about to blow. A lot of your favorite artists will fall to the wayside along this journey. Yet don’t you fear for with that there will be an emergence of new artists who are more equipped to travel this uncharted terrain. These will become our new heroes and they will lead us valiantly as we build on what is about to be destroyed. Enter Jay Electronica, one of our new heroes?

SHIFTING GEARS

I just looked at my recently posted blog on the PAPOOSE vs. FAT JOE story and thought to myself “who cares”, I mean really “who cares”. There’s a million other blogs out there posting this exact story, why am I going to join the parade. Especially when we know 50 the one that'll egg this whole thing on. I mean I don’t even like 50cent, plus isn’t his edition of the standard 5yr “king of hip hop” run suppose to be over now. Yeah I know, I’m on some real hate sh!t. Well I wouldn’t be human if I didn’t allow myself the opportunity to experience all the emotions that come with it. That includes the f$%k 50 emotion which I refuse to let stay dormant. Anyway in light of that I’ve decided to post a story which holds a little more weight. Not that it was that hard to find one. I mean really I could have posted a piece on the origin of “post-it” notes and it would have proved to be more interesting. Enjoy the story. (The Origin Of Post It Notes)
Post-it ® notes may have been a God-send…literally. In the early 1970s, Art Fry was in search of a bookmark for his church hymnal that would neither fall out nor damage the hymnal. Fry noticed that a colleague at 3M, Dr. Spencer Silver, had developed an adhesive that was strong enough to stick to surfaces, but left no residue after removal and could be repositioned. Fry took some of Dr. Silver’s adhesive and applied it along the edge of a piece of paper. His church hymnal problem was solved!

Fry soon realized that his "bookmark" had other potential functions when he used it to leave a note on a work file, and co-workers kept dropping by, seeking "bookmarks" for their offices. This "bookmark" was a new way to communicate and to organize. 3M Corporation crafted the name Post-it note for Fry’s bookmarks and began production in the late 70s for commercial use.

In 1977, test-markets failed to show consumer interest. However in 1979, 3M implemented a massive consumer sampling strategy, and the Post-it note took off. Today, we see Post-it ® notes peppered across files, computers, desks, and doors in offices and homes throughout the country. From a church hymnal bookmark to an office and home essential, the Post-it note has colored the way we work.

1882 2008 Spring/Summer Collection
As a tribute to the toils and hardships of Asian Americans in the United States, 1882 is a reflection of the events that transpired in a movement that largely began during the California Gold Rush. The name 1882 is derived from the monumental Chinese Exclusion Act signed in 1882 which severely restricted the entry of any Chinese workers, both skilled and unskilled. Here are four t-shirts designed by prominent Asian members of the streetwear community including Eddie of (Commune) and Arnold of Greyone. Available now at select retailers including 5& A Dime, Bowls, Fresh, and Laced LV.

Marvel vs. Technics - Fiction Meets Reality

Bond Internationl just released a very special series of Marvel vs. Technics t-shirts, that many of you should be very excited about, just like we are.
"Music and art have always been associated, and this is a team up that makes sense. DJ’s and urban DJ culture has great respect for the urban comic book style that is Marvel Comics. Well, this is natural, especially seeing as the cultures spawned from the same time, in the same city, in the same country. DJ and turntable pioneer Afrika Bambaataa created a historic record cover when he teamed up with the Soul Sonic Force to release ’Renegades of Funk.’ The album cover was taken straight from a Marvel Comics cover."

Depend on outlet no more with PowerMonkey Portable Charger

Every gadget lover knows that his favorite gadget is always limited by battery life. Cell phone, PDA or music player - they all live a very limited amount of time, and must be recharged when it ends. Sometimes, due to dead battery, we can miss important calls, or be left with no music on a half way to destination we going. It is very annoying - to depend on those chemical processes that happen inside a battery of your most needed gadget. You can buy an additional battery, but it is very expensive to buy it for every gadget you have! PowerMonkey made a solution for people who want to be protected from sudden battery

CD and DVD burners are so common nowadays, that it is hard to find a PC without CD-RW\DVD-RW drive. Sometimes, when your friend brings another cool DVD, it is a pity that you cannot just copy it without going to nearest PC. It slows the process, and laziness prevails in most times. Imagine that there is a gadget that will simplify this process. That will be capable of copying CD and DVD without need of PC connection, portable and rapid! Fortunately, such gadget really exists. read more

Cell Phone With Built-in Bluetooth Headset

can’t tell you how long I’ve been waiting for a cell phone like this. Called the Mooon+ (yes, 3 ‘os’), the device’s mouth piece doubles as a Bluetooth headset, and when it’s plugged into the phone it charges. Battery life might be a concern, but come on, we all charge our iPhones daily. Perhaps Apple will take a hint and design an add-on on Bluetooth headset that doubles as a Bluetooth dongle for streaming music. Apple? It includes a touchscreen interface, but hold onto those check books, it’s just a concept.

Fat Joe suddenly starts yelling at Papoose, “You Got A Problem With Me?” and Papoose replied, “No, do you have a problem?” When Fat Joe responds ” yeah, I got a problem with you,” thats when Papoose swung at Fat Joe, punching him in the face twice. PHOTOSHOP IN FULL EFFECT. This weekly top 5 is a video edition dedicated to Hip Hop's fashion swag. Enjoy.
TOP 5 – DEAD OR ALIVE (HIP HOP SWAG/VIDEO EDITION)

1) THE B-BOY 1973-1989

The epitome of Hip Hop swag was born with the b-boy. Fat laces, cazal glasses, lee jeans, adidas shell toes & pumas were all made famous by the b-boy. He was the ultimate connoisseur of fashion and did not rely on any blueprint to dictate what was considered “Fresh”. Unfortunately, the b-boy died around 1989 when the music became less personal and more global.

PLANET ROCK - AFRIKA BAMBAATAA & THE SOUL SONIC FORCE

2) THE AFROCENTRIC 1987 – 1991

Afrocentric fashion became popular during the years when conscious rap was widely prevalent. Rappers and consumers alike sported African beads, black medallions and were mostly seen in red, black and green (“cross colors”). The afrocentric side eventually faded and made way for the gangsta rap era which was more viable from a company perspective. That last line is beyond sad.

SUNSHINE - BRAND NUBIAN

3) THE BACKPACKER 1994 - present

The backpacker was born from the globalizing of Hip Hop in the 90’s. In a climate that seen the music become divided, the backpacker stayed more true to the original roots of Hip Hop. Timberland boots, Tommy Hilfiger, carhart jackets and of course the typical Jansport backpack were usually the gear of choice. The term is still used today but usually carries a negative or nerdy connotation.

WHO GOT THE PROPS – BLACK MOON

4) THE GANGSTA 1973 – present

Seeing how hip hop was born from struggles of the inner city youth, it’s safe to say gangsta fashion has been around since its inception. Pretty much walking hand in hand with the b-boy until the early 90’s which ushered in the great divide in hip hop. Bandanas, hoodies, baggy clothes and excessive jewelry became the staples for the gangsta.

GO GETTA - YOUNG JEEZY FT. R. KELLY

5) THE HIPSTER CAT

The hipster cat is an amalgamation of all the fashion trends listed above. Replacing the baggyness for a more close fitting look while still having an emphasis on the jewellerey. Some may describe him as the new school b-boy with his strong passion for throwback orientated styles. i.e the b-boy era.

JUVENILE'S DAUGHTER FOUND MURDERED

NEWS OF RAPPER JUVENILE'S DAUGHTER'S TRAGIC MURDER. IT LEAVES EVERYONE ASKING THE SAME QUESTION, WHY ???

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder in the fatal shootings of his mother and her two little girls, one of whom was rap star Juvenile's 4-year-old daughter.
Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr. was charged Friday in the deaths at the family home near Lawrenceville, where the bodies were found the night before, said police spokeswoman Illana Spellman.
She identified the victims as Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputy Joy Deleston, 39, and her two daughters, Micaiah, 11, and Jelani, 4. The motive was still unclear.
Deleston brought a paternity lawsuit in 2004, claiming that the 32-year-old rap star Juvenile, whose real name is Terius Gray, was Jelani's father, Gwinnett County court records show.
Attorney Randy Kessler, who represented Juvenile in the proceedings, said the case was resolved peacefully by consent order in 2006. Both parties agreed Juvenile was the father.
Kessler said Saturday he had not talked with the rapper about the killings. "Anytime you have a situation like that, it's shocking," Kessler said.
Terrell was taken to jail in neighboring DeKalb County to avoid any potential conflict because Deleston worked for Gwinnett County, Spellman said. He is being held without bail.
Because of his age, prosecutors cannot seek the death penalty against Terrell. A preliminary hearing will be set next week in Gwinnett County Superior Court, said prosecutor Danny Porter.
Defense attorney Lyle Porter did not return a call Friday. An attempt to reach Juvenile at a listing for "T. Gray" in the New Orleans area, where he is based, was unsuccessful on Friday night.
Authorities on Friday found the gun used, going by information provided by Terrell. Spellman said she could not confirm whether Deleston's service weapon was used.
Deleston, a seven-year member of the department, had been assigned to the sex offender unit, police said.
Police had gone to the subdivision because a caller reported shots fired, Officer David Schiralli said earlier. They found a bullet hole in a house, then checked next door because they knew a deputy lived there.
They opened the door to announce themselves and discovered the bodies, Schiralli said. The 17-year-old son arrived at the house about 35 minutes later, he said.
Spellman said the boy was arrested after talking to investigators but didn't elaborate.
Neighbors said the family had moved in less than a year ago. They often saw Deleston in her squad car coming home from work and said having a deputy around was reassuring.
Jeff Beaird, who lives across the street, said he often saw Terrell in the driveway shooting hoops with his friends or washing his mother's patrol car but doesn't remember anything out of the ordinary.
"It's so shocking because you don't expect something like this to happen," Beaird said.
Juvenile has been arrested several times on charges ranging from failure to pay child support to resisting an officer in a scuffle at a Florida mall in 1999. Most of the charges have been dismissed.
